You can read about all the design features on the Sweet Protection website. The helmet is quite high tech compared to say, my skateboard helmet. I assume the mips layer, multi-density foam, and carbon inserts in the shell all add up to a little bit of an improvement in terms of accident survivability.But at the end of the day, the fit and wearability are key. I had to chance the size selection based on wrapping a tape measure around my forehead. It's a close fit at the front and back, and would have needed to go a size up if I was to wear a hat under it. As someone with a narrow head, it's certainly a good overall shape for me, but probably bad for others. Most European standard helmets I own have a lot of space to the sides of the head, but not this one.The strap is fantastic - easily adjustable to make it sit away from my neck (a problem I find hard to fix with many helmets), it is very comfortable, and very easy to fasten and release.Over all, a very well engineered helmet.
