I like the fabric on this one, but not the fact it is bright white inside. Also, pretty loose compared to summer versions. Much to be desired as any sort of winter balaclava...it still needs more neck and even using as a scarf is a bit lacking. I keep it in my pack for emergencies.First things first - hand-wash it, with detergent, in your sink. IDK about machine-washing, haven't tried yet, but sink is fine. Took about overnight and most of the day to dry, so expect that. Water was black 1st time, so really, wash it. You're putting this thing on your face, so it's prudent anyway. This is a solid product. It's on the thinner side, but it is lined on the inside with a thin fleece-like material. Maybe microfiber. Soft, but thin and still breathable.I was looking for something for the Summer, and to maybe keep some of the chill out in Winter. I have a beard so I don't need an insulating balaclava. I think this totally fits the bill. I totally wasn't expecting the lining, so when I got it I got worried, but was really surprised that I could still breathe through it. It's kind of perfect. If you fold down the head portion, you can hook it around your ears, to use as just a face cover. The ear portion will help it stay up without needing constant readjustment like typical neck gaiters. Although, the ear strap isn't 100% designed for this - it's ~1.5" wide, so it bunches up above your ear a bit. Kind of pushes the tops of your ears out into a flop. Doesn't look as bad as it sounds, and definitely still helpful, but enough to prevent your ears from being useful for things like tucking your hair behind. I haven't tried sunglasses with this yet.Again, that's with the hood down, and when using the ear holes. When hood is up, this is perfect. And, you can use it like a normal gaiter, without hooking over your ears. So no harm done with the ear things, it's there if you want or don't use it. And because this is on the thin side, with the hood down it's not too much of a bunch behind your head.Fit is good, stitching is decent. I'd say the next step up is UnderArmour $30. I'd get this again at this price-point.I don’t write many reviews, actually I can’t remember the last one I wrote but I feel this one warrants a comment. To be honest it just arrived 5 minutes ago so I can’t speak to comfort or anything else but the fit I can speak to. It is big. I ordered a large which makes me feel weird to say this product is too big because all other products I buy that go on my head are at least a large. That being said I didn’t check the sizing chart or other reviews on how it fit so that on me. I wish it fit more snug around the head like a baseball hat but other than that it will work just fine. It's very warm and comfy, but the white does get dirty do I think I'll go with black next time.I have a very small head (XS hemet size) and this fits me surprisingly well around my face. The head portion does slide up, however, I wear a beanie and that keeps it in place fine.It definitely keeps me warm, often too warm, but I'd rather have that problem. Only complaint is that it's highly absorbent of sweat but feels very wet and takes a long time to dry. Other more advanced materials don't feel wet when absorbing sweat, but they're also a lot more expensive. This works well for what it is which is really a liner for something else. Say a helmet or a hat or anything that covers your head. It's comfortable and feels well made (thick). I wouldn't recommend this just on its own for very cold temperatures say under 30°F. However, having a hat or hood on with this works great. The mouth cover is nice, it's thick and protects your nose and face well. It easily can be pulled down to your chin to expose your face. Overall, this is a great product for the price. It's good when the temperature is around 40f, but I think I'll eventually need something warmer.
